The area around this bike route was once all forest and wetland. Some of its natural qualities have been upheld by setting up reserves. Start from the centre of Trino, in front of Palazzo Paleologo in Piazza Garibaldi. There is a large car park here. Take Corso Italia to the railway station then carry on alongside the railway line until the turn in the road for Livorno Ferraris. After a couple of kilometres, turn right at the Ramezzana estate towards the Bosco di Sorti della Partecipanza woods. Take the track to the Montarolo roundabout, where a dirt road leads to Palazzolo Vercellese. This is home to the Piemonte Rafting association, which offers tourists the chance to organise rafting trips in the river Po regional park. From the village, we approach the paths along the Po by bike, following the river up to Fontanetto Po. Just inside the village on Via Po is Mulino San Giovanni, home to a historic rice mill – with machinery still driven by water – and its museum, Museo dell’Antica Riseria. The route continues on trails leading to the marshland of the Palude di San Genuario nature reserve. The route returns to Montarolo grange before entering the woodland of the Bosco delle Sorti della Partecipanza natural park. The route continues through this enchanting piece of medieval forest to return to the residential area of Trino.
